Now that you’ve registered as a developer and you’ve learnt how to work with our application template. It’s time to test your application.
There are two ways in which you should test your application:
1. Local test
2. Testing inside the video chat experience
How to Conduct a Local Test
1. Download 6roundsEmulator from here.
2. Change your Application SWF file name to 6roundsApplication.swf
3. Drop and replace the existing 6roundsApplication.swf in the 6roundsEmulator
4. Before you can test your application you must login to http://www.rounds.com
You will also need to change your flash security settings and allow the 6roundsEmulator path to access the web.
Do that by going to Adobe Global Security Settings panel and browse for the 6roundsEmulator folder path on your local drive.
5. Run TestApplication.html. You can choose to open your application in two different popups or in a single window side by side. (This might not work with Windows Explorer 8)
How to test your application within the 6rounds video experience
1. Log in to http://apps.facebook.com/chatrounds/ with two different accounts.
In order to test your application in it’s natural state, the video experience, you will need to start a conversation with yourself.
You can log in from two different computers but if you are testing the application in the same
machine, make sure you log in from two different browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc…
You need to do that since you can’t log in with two different accounts in the same browser.
OK. Let’s go! Log in, find your other you (needs to be your friend on Facebook) and invite
yourself for a nice video chat.
.
2. Start the Developrs Application and run your application
Hover over your video/image and you would see the main menu. Choose activites and click on the
Developers Application icon.
In the Developer Application enter your application URL and click run.
You should see your application loading and running.
Test your application!
* If from some reason your application fails to start, make sure that:
1. You received a success authentication message. If not check the application and developer keys you entered when you initialized your session.
2. Both of your users video experience were focused at some point (this is for the flash to run and connect to 6rounds servers)
3. You entered your application URL correctly.
