Facebook Games

Among my friends, almost all of them have facebook. But very few of them actually play the games the site offers. When I ask why they usually just shrug and give a “I don’t know.” The closest thing I got to a real answer was “How good can they be?” Well, if you choose the right one, it can be fantastic. And a lot of them are far more addicting than any game you can find on a console. I will be giving overviews to some of the best (and underrated) games the site has to offer. Hopefully you can find a couple to get excited about and try out.

Mobsters 2: Vendetta

This is one of my favorites. You start off as a lowly street thug running low level missions (hustling some pool, mugging people, lifting some wallets) and start to gain experience and make money. With more money you can buy better weapons, with more experience you can level up and become powerful, which will let you complete even more difficult missions. The best part of the game is forming your mob. Your mob consists of your friends on facebook. Together you can fight other mobs, win some money, and gain some respect. Trust me, nothing is more fun than putting a character in the hospital because they wouldn’t get off your mom’s back.

Fishville

Maybe throwing grenades and muscling business owners isn’t your thing. Maybe you want something just as addictive, but more tranquil. Fishville would be the perfect game. Like all facebook games, the more friends you play, the better. In the case of Fishville, friends can help you take care of your fish when you can’t, and help you decorate your tank. The goal is to start raising your fish. The more you raise them, the more experience you get. Once you get enough experience, you level up, and have access to rarer fish, better decorations, better tanks, and so forth. It’s like raising your own fish, but without having to flush them down the toilet when you leave a window open.

YoVille

YoVille is a different kind of game from the ones already mentioned. It’s less about leveling up to reach the next rung in the ladder, and more about open ended game play. You create a character and live in a town with your other friends. You can visit their home, they can visit yours, you can go to work to make some money to decorate your home, or explore all the other aspects of the world. It’s kind of like the Sims games on your facebook page.

Treasure Isle

Now this is a fun game! It’s set up in the same way as all the other games mentioned (set up an avatar, get help from your friends, set up a home base) but it’s more action oriented. You are a treasure hunter digging around deserted islands to find the next big treasure. The better you get, the more islands you can visit, where you find even better treasures. It gets tricky as you keep going, as you need certain items to get to certain places. A must play game for all those want to be explorers out there.

So if you are a game junkie, or even a game novice, give one of these a try. Check back to 6rounds soon, as we’ll be coming out with our own facebook application that you won’t want to miss!
