Not too long ago I wrote an article about the best books you probably haven’t read. I said it would be a great way to kick off a conversation with your webcam buddy. Unfortunately, not everyone is as into books as I am, so literature might not be the most helpful conversational piece during those awkward pauses. But I haven’t met anyone yet who doesn’t love movies. Or at least like movies. There are a ton of genres out there, but my favourite are horror movies. More specifically, cheesy horror movies. When a horror movie tries, and fails completely, there is nothing more entertaining, James Cameron be damned. So if you have nothing to say to your friend over a webcam, just watch ones of these and laugh at other people’s failure.

Alright, so you’ve found 6rounds, you’re registered, you’ve read through the FAQ, and are now checking out the blog. You’ve taken almost all the steps, now there’s only one left. Of course, it’s the most important one. You actually have to start your webcam adventure.
It may be a little nerve racking at first. You’ve probably instant messaged before, but that’s a kind of different. There’s space between you and the person you’re talking to. The person you are talking to can’t see you, so you have longer to respond, your attention can wander, and, if need be, you can fake your reaction. All these things are much more difficult, if not impossible, on 6rounds. It’s a face to face interaction, with everything you do being picked up by your webcam. So why do it? Well, for starters, it’s a more honest, personal conversation than text on a white screen can allow. And it’s fun!

When carrying on a webcam conversation, whether it’s with a friends or a stranger, you don’t have the luxury of a real life distraction, like TV or music. It’s just you and him, looking at each other and hoping someone will say something interesting. Of course, you can play a game, but eventually you’re going to want to talk. I find it’s always helpful to have a topic handy and ready to go. No surprise, my favorite topics is books. And not that Twilight crap. Real, thought provoking literature. Here is my list of books you probably haven’t read, but really should. You can recommend them to your webcam buddy and maybe you just might be lucky to find someone else who has read them.
